Happy Friday!

This morning, we had a presentation called "Just Like You", a disability awareness program. Your child has been sent home with an activity booklet to complete with things they learned about today!

After our presentation, we went for a community walk to Teepee Forest and students engaged in exploration and play!

See you on Monday!

Our Day:

- Today in Phys. Ed, we learned a traditional Indigenous game called Tatanka Tatanka. Ask your child how to play!

- In literacy, we finished filling our 'fact pocket' in our brain. This pocket focuses on things we know many facts about, such as sports, animals, and plants. Students began writing about one idea in their fact pocket!

- We had Roots of Empathy today and read stories about how babies learn things as they grow. We brainstormed things that babies can not yet do, but that we can now that we have grown a bit! Some of the ideas include: ride a bike, brush your teeth, talk.

- In math today, we continued our learning about non-standard measurement and estimation! Students put their estimation skills to work by finding objects to estimate, then measure using paperclips and toothpicks!

- While Ms. Low's class went to music, Ms. Day's class did community building! Ask your child about how we can create the best class ever!

Tuesday, April 27

 Hello Families,

We started the day by reading If You Come to Earth by Sophie Blackall and discussed some things we might explain to other beings if they visited Earth.  There were many thoughtful ideas.  We are continuing to work on our brain pocket for writing and brainstormed ideas for our Fact Pocket.

In Math, we are continuing to explore measuring and were introduced to Height and the terms tall, taller, tallest.  We then used paperclips and toothpicks to measure items in our book bins.

Ask me about our "secret buddies" and giving shoutouts!

Thank you for reading!

Friday, April 23

 Hello Families,

Today, as we connected with our learning on Earth Day we created our own ecological footprint.  We used oil pastels to create images of the Earth that are important to us.  We also discussed how our actions can have a positive affect on the Earth.

In math we are building our understanding of measurement and ordered items by length today.  We learned the terms shortest, long, longer, longest.

A friendly reminder that there is no school on Monday and a heads up that we are planning on going to the coulee next Friday.
